Positive Thought & Seeing Success

“Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously. Never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop the picture…Do not build up obstacles in your imagination.” ~ Norman Vincent Peale

Success and happiness are very directly tied to your attitude, and your mindset about them. It’s important to stay focused on whatever positive outcome you want to reach rather than letting your mind get cluttered up by the problems that might arise.

Think. See. Believe. Dwell. Determine. Today I’m going to focus on Think. See.

By focusing on the positive end result you’re looking for, your mind will work on the steps to that end subconsciously. You won’t be actively thinking about what steps to take to reach that goal, but somewhere deep down, you’ll be working toward it. You might not even realize that you’re thinking about it, but somewhere inside, your mind will be working out what steps to take to get you on your way to meeting your goal. By keeping that picture of success firmly planted in your mind, you’re taking the first step toward achieving it.

If, on the other hand, you keep a pessimistic attitude, and focus on the negative issues you run into, and you assume you’re going to fail, that’s exactly what will happen. Just as your mind will work toward positive ends if you have positive thoughts and a positive outcome fixed in your mind. And, of course, your mind will work toward negative ends if you fill your thoughts with negativity.

Let me be clear, I’m not saying that just because you think of something, it will happen. Let’s be realistic, right? If that were the case, I know I would have won a multi-million dollar lottery by now. How about you? But, what I am saying is that what you think can, and will, determine, where you are headed. So, if you hold a picture of failure, you will fail, if for now other reason than you most likely won’t push yourself to do your best and to re-adjust your course when needed. You’ll hit an obstacle and if you’ve been holding a picture of failure, then what incentive, what motivation will you have to push through to a successful outcome?

So, can you take a few minutes every day, and think about what positive goals you want to reach? Spend some time concentrating on them to fix them clearly in your thoughts. By taking the time to remind yourself of your positive thoughts and goals, you are actually taking the first step toward reaching those goals. Yes, you need to take action, but focusing on the positive outcome helps. I’ll talk more about this in another post.

How do you keep yourself focused on the positive?
